JOB DESCRIPTION
The Casual Technicians will assist the Senior Venue technician in the delivery of The Yard’s programme in its theatre and bar spaces. This may include equipment maintenance, rigging, preparing the venue for an incoming show or event, amongst other duties. We require casual technicians to do shifts as a “Duty Technician”.
This means you are the sole technical staff member on site during a performance or event, performing pre-show checks, supporting the artists or stage management team to set up, and troubleshooting minor issues if they come up.
This is a freelance role paid at £15 per hour.
● Duty technician responsibilities, performing pre-show checks, supporting
artists/stage management during shows and events, completing end of show checks or
power down.
● Troubleshoot technical issues as they come up during a show or event.
● Work at height when required.
● Be on hand to help with any Qlab troubleshooting.
● Be on hand to help with any EOS troubleshooting.
● Safely Rig lighting and sound equipment when needed.
● Work with the Production Managers and/or Production Carpenters to build theatre
sets.
PERSON SPECIFICATION

Essential
● Experience of Technical Theatre environments.
● Experience of working alongside a Stage Management team.
● Knowledge of how to troubleshoot and operate on an ETC ION.
● Knowledge of how to troubleshoot and operate QLab4+5 (sound and video).
● Experience in the rigging and focusing of lighting in a theatre environment.
Desirable
● Knowledge of Digital sound mixers.
● General knowledge of Technical Standards for Places of Entertainment.
