Deadline

A part time, freelance role for a creative with experience of producing and project management as well as being a practicing artist/choreographer/teacher.
Greenwich Dance is seeking an artist/producer to join the Greenwich Dance team in a freelance position to design, develop and deliver an offer for young people both in and outside of schools. Supported by the Garfield Weston Foundation the artist/producer will become one of our AiR artists (Artists in Residence) and join the team as a member of freelance staff on a year-long fixed term, 2 day per week contract.
This is an exciting time to be joining the organisation as we emerge from the pandemic and take on board the learning that period enabled. In 2023 we are actively seeking to embed ways of working with both artists and our dancing communities in a more collaborative way which we hope will lead to deeper and more authentic engagement and increased creative opportunities.
We are a flexible organisation and work peripatetically utilising community centres across Greenwich and Bexley. We also take a flexible approach to hybrid working, with staff empowered to work at home or in the office (or indeed from the community centres within which work takes place) with exceptions being team meetings/collaboration days. The role will work closely with our Festival and Events and Community Engagement Producers and will support the co-delivery of keystones of our work such as our annual Summer in the Park festival.
The ideal candidate for this role will have a passion for working with and engaging young people, of drawing out their ideas and developing an offer in response to this. They will be innovative and enjoy being part of a creative team. They will be proactive in reaching out to schools, youth centres and other organisations with an offer of dance for the purposes of income generation as well as to recruit and promote for a Young Creators programme to contain creative projects, experiences and opportunities devised upon the feedback directly from young people. They will thus be efficient and accustomed to office and desk-based work as well as excelling in teaching and in studio-based delivery. The role will suit an artist wanting to broaden their skillset to include producing: or a producer wanting to retain their dance and teaching practice.
We envisage the Young Creators offer being built alongside young people and in response to their needs. For this reason, dance style is not stipulated, and we are open to applications from artist/producers with experience within a range of styles as long as they have the flexibility to liaise with and empower the young people working with them.
Fee: £11,400 (£950 per month) – calculated using £28,500 pa pro rata on a 0.4 part time basis (2 days a week).
Working days: flexible and to be determined upon appointment and relating to the design of the Young Creators programme. The post will have the autonomy to work flexibly, spreading hours across the week to suit both post holder and programme.
Location: Flexible working, split between live and remote from home
Start date: 1 April 2023 (or as near to this as notice periods allow)
End date: 31 March 2024
