This is a co-production between Wales Millennium Centre and Frân Wen.
We’re looking for an Assistant Director to be a key part of the creative team on a new Welsh-language musical. You will work alongside director Gethin Evans (Frân Wen Artistic Director) in developing, preparing, and realising his vision for this large-scale production.
This ambitious production will open at Wales Millennium Centre before touring Wales in November 2023.
The role will actively contribute to the rehearsal and production process.
- Work alongside the director during the creating process.
- Actively contribute to the process of rehearsal and production.
- Attend production meetings.
- Support rehearsals with a young cast in various locations.
- Take part in community engagement work that will run alongside the production.
- Lead on some aspects of the rehearsals, depending on experience.
REQUIREMENTS
Essential requirements:
- Can speak Welsh fluently.
- Keen interest in new writing.
- A good understanding of contemporary theatre in Wales.
- A commitment to work in an inclusive and accessible way.
- Willingness to travel around Wales.
- Experience of creating theatre professionally.
Desired requirements:
- The ability to read music and/or solid experience of working with music in a theatrical context.
- Experience of working with communities and children.
You must be available on the following dates:
- 5 – 9 June 2023 in Bangor.
- 18 September – 25 November 2023 in Cardiff.
- Regular creative conversations over Zoom.
TERMS
A fee of £6,000 to be paid in instalments, as well as travel, accommodation, and subsistence cost.
