The New Wolsey Theatre is looking for a ‘Company & Stage Manager’ and ‘Deputy Stage Manager’ to form a Stage Management team of two for its forthcoming production of Romeo & Juliet which will open and play at the New Wolsey Theatre, Ipswich, before transferring to Theatre Royal Bury St Edmunds.

You would be looking after an acting company of six actors alongside a creative team, to create an abridged production of this classic play for schools directed by the Theatre’s Chief Executive and Artistic Director, Douglas Rintoul.

This project is part of our talent development work supporting local theatre freelancers, so we are particularly interested in hearing from individuals with a home base in Suffolk and the wider East Anglian region, but are open to applications from outside this area.

Previous professional CSM or DSM experience is essential.

Rehearsals: 8th January – 31st January 2024
Performances at New Wolsey Theatre: 1st – 8th February 2024
Touring week to Theatre Royal Bury St Edmunds: 12th February – 17th February 2024

We’re keen to receive applications from people of all backgrounds, especially those currently less represented in our industry, particularly especially from Black, Asian and ethnically diverse backgrounds, those who identify as deaf and disabled people, neurodivergent people, members of the LGBTQIA+ community and those from lower socio-economic backgrounds. We are up for exploring support and development needs and are happy to make reasonable adjustments to enable applicants to participate in the selection process, and for the successful applicant to carry out the role.

To apply:

• Please submit a CV and covering letter to Sam Bates at admin@wolseytheatre.co.uk
• Complete our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Form Online

The deadline for applications is 10am on Monday 20th November.

We will be inviting shortlisted applicants to a short meeting (probably via Zoom) to discuss the role.

If you need us to make any adjustments to allow you to fully participate in this application and selection process please get in touch.

For example, if submitting a written application form is not the best way for you to tell us about your skills and experience, we can accept your application another way, such as video, audio file, or you could dictate your application to us over the phone.

However you choose to apply, you will need to tell us about your skills and experience, and employment history as well as to consider the following
questions:

• Why are you interested in the role and the show?
• How do your skills and experience make you the best person for the job?
