The Culture Weston Future Producers programme is an 8-month paid trainee programme for young people aged 18-30 interested in developing a career in the creative industries. This is an opportunity to develop creative skills, practice and professional networks through a work-based placement and produce a creative project.

We are currently looking to recruit 2 people to the programme. The role will offer ‘hands-on’ opportunities to develop your skills in, and find out more about:

  • Creating events Producing festivals Managing live events Technical production – sound and lighting
  • Community engagement Programming and booking performers Marketing and promotion
  • Fundraising and managing budgets
  • You will have the opportunity to produce events in Weston-super-Mare with an allocated budget.

The programme will be tailored to your individual interests and strengths and there will be regular training and opportunities to go and see work. This programme aims to widen access to opportunities and remove the barriers that young people from underrepresented backgrounds face when entering the creative and cultural industries.

This programme is generously supported by the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation. *Underrepresented in this context includes, but is not limited to, people who identify as being from the Global Majority, disabled, D/deaf, neurodivergent or affected by a long-term health condition, affected by homelessness, a carer or care-leaver, having a migrant or refugee experience, being eligible for free school meals or considering themselves to be from a lower socio-economic or working-class background.

WHO IS IT FOR?

You could be just out of school, recently graduated from college or university, thinking about or in the early stages of a creative career, or just eager to get involved in Weston’s festivals and events.

You don’t need any previous producer experience to apply. We’re looking for people eager to learn, and with a passion, enthusiasm and drive to make exciting events happen in Weston-super-Mare.

Maybe you enjoy music, street art, theatre, dancing, spoken word, or politics. You may have created events before, or you might know this is something you want to do, but haven’t had the chance. If you are a person who organises people and makes things happen, we want to hear from you.
