We are looking for a dynamic and personable individual to help develop audiences for a new outdoor performance presented in Thamesmead as part of GDIF 2023.

The successful candidate will lead on the delivery of targeted outreach and engagement around The Moorings Estate in Thamesmead, with a particular focus on developing relationships with local African Diasporic communities.

Working as a part of the Greenwich + Docklands International Festival team, together with Upswing, Unlimited and Peabody’s Culture Team, the postholder will be responsible for build- ing interest in the performance locally as well as engaging target groups in participatory work.

Conceived and directed by Vicki Dela Amedume (Upswing) and J Spooner (Unlimited), Ancient Futures is a durational event taking place in Thamesmead, that builds throughout a whole day, to an immersive evening climax. The creative team are working with writer and ‘quantum poet’ Oneness Sankara to create the story-world and mythologies that underpin our ‘Afrinaut’ culture. New music will be made by renowned Grime and Hip Hop Artist, Afrikan Boy. Ancient Futures will feel somewhere between a sound system clash, a dance party and a launch into an alternative universe. Working timeline March – July: Up to 10 days building relationships with community groups, including face to-face meetings in the area, attending site visits and liaising with the artistic team, as well as support with organization of engagement work.

August: 8 days marketing and flyering locally, supporting engagement activities on-site when required, collating evaluation and monitoring data.

25-28 August: 2 Ancient Futures show dates (exact dates TBC).
