This is an exciting new role to take a lead in developing, coordinating and administrating the expanding artist development programme at Z-arts, building on the work we have delivered over the last few years.

For example, in 2021 we supported 26 artists/companies from global majority, disabled or working-class backgrounds, making work for young audiences. 9 of these diverse artists/companies toured their work across Big Imaginations & beyond, including Family Vogue Ball; Sue &Sita; Aleiah’s Adventure (touring libraries, schools and youth centres) and STAN by Art With Heart (featuring a deaf performer).

In autumn 2023 we will have a dedicated studio space for artists making work for young audiences, prioritizing artists of colour and disabled artists, and part of your role will be to manage that space and provide pastoral care for the artists.

You can expect to work with artists working in different genres including theatre, dance, music performance and participation – focusing on artists making work for children, families and young people.

“It was really good for our pupils to see such positive characters who had fought adversity, celebrating black role models from local to international & from different periods of history. It was truly inspiring & even better than expected. We were educated, moved, challenged & thoroughly engaged!” – Deputy Head

You will also represent Z-arts on the Big Imaginations Artist Development Sub-group, supporting the Artist Imagination Fund, network commissions and online communications.
