We are seeking a director to collaborate on a bold and urgent piece of political theatre that confronts the stark realities of gang violence in London, examining its roots in social inequality, using a lyrical style inspired by rap.

Fee: £3,000

Key Dates:

  • 11th – 15th November 2024
  • 18th – 22nd November 2024
  • 2nd – 6th December 2024

This job is based in London.

Desirable Skills and Interests:

  • Experience in political and socially engaged theatre
  • An understanding and appreciation for rap and spoken word, with the ability to incorporate its rhythm, energy, and emotional depth into the production.
  • Strong collaborative skills, with the ability to work closely with writers, actors, and other creative team members to bring the vision to life.
  • An empathetic approach to storytelling, especially when dealing with sensitive issues like gang violence, racism, and social inequality, ensuring respectful and nuanced portrayals.
  • Experience in crafting productions that resonate with both local, underserved audiences and broader audiences, ensuring accessibility and impact.
