Wandsworth Council is looking for a freelance Marketing specialist to draft, deliver and monitor the Marketing and Communications campaign for Wandsworth Arts Fringe (WAF) 2025, with a particular focus on liaising with and supporting marketing activity for artists and companies participating in the festival.
In 2025, Wandsworth is London Borough of Culture, and WAF will be a highlight of the LBOC programme.
Wandsworth Arts Fringe is an open access, multi-arts festival, taking place all over Wandsworth every June. Each year festival showcases hundreds of artists around 150 events, covering all 20 wards of the borough and engaging with approximately 20,000 people.
In 2025, the festival is taking place from Fri 6 – Sun 22 June.
Role
The role of the Marketing freelancer will be to plan, deliver and monitor all the marketing actions and post-festival marketing evaluation from 19 November 2024 – 19 July 2025. These include but are not limited to:
- Take over the artist call out campaign (EOIs close in December 2024)
- Manage callout campaigns for WAF commissions and associate producers across website, social media, email, external listings site and via partner networks
- Manage the registration campaign (Open December 2025 – 16 February 2025)
- Review and finalise event listings on the website after registrations close (16 February – 3 March) and before on-sale (first two weeks of April)
- Draft and distribute press releases to announce: WAF Grants, WAF Commissions, Associate Producers, Programme launch (3rd week April), programme highlights/thematic/genre press releases to targeted media (i.e. Family/LGBTQIA+/Dance etc) and post-festival – with oversight from LBOC comms team.
- Work with LBOC comms team to ensure that the public ticketing offer is fully functioning on the LBOC website by Wed 23 April
- Manage creation of WAF content for social media channels and e-newsletters.
- Re-develop our artist toolkit videos to align with the new look and feel
- Liaise with artists to:
- Collate and schedule social media content
- Facilitate media opportunities
- Manage the Riverside Radio broadcast partnership
- Collate images and copy for marketing as required
- Liaise with venues to coordinate venue branding materials, survey cards and print drops
- Work with designers to create printed flyers, posters and advertising collateral
- Plan and launch the public marketing and communications campaign to buy WAF tickets (including pre-booking in key outdoor advertising, digital advertising, media partnerships and distribution of marketing material)
- Manage design and print for artist material e.g. tote bags etc
- Organise and manage the publicity launch for artists
- Liaise with the Council’s Communications team, especially regarding providing copy for all the council publications, in particular Brightside, Homelife, Headstart and e-Bulletins for the VCS and Enterprise team.
- Monitor and track WAF ticket sales, Google Analytics, Digital advertising etc and produce a post-festival marketing evaluation.
