CRIPtic Arts are running four artist development projects, designed to support deaf and disabled creatives at every stage of their career.

Reach

Supporting 5 emerging deaf and disabled solo writer-performers to develop their first full-length show with online peer-facilitated sessions and a residential opportunity to work with a director to complete your piece.

The programme culminates in a two day in person residential where you will work with each other and a director to shape the final pieces.

Across the programme, artists will receive funding to attend the sessions and develop their work (£750 total). Hotel, travel and per diems for the residential will be provided by CRIPtic Arts. More info.

Launchpad

Launchpad supports four creatives or small companies (max 3 people) of any genre to develop bold, new and adventurous work to be performed live on stage.

Artists will access a funded 6 month development & mentoring programme, giving them the skills and connections to develop their show. Launchpad will culminate in a showcase in Winter 2023/24, where each artist who has completed the programme will be given a 30 minute performance slot.

Launchpad artists will receive a total of £1,200 for their participation on the development programme and artists will receive an additional £750 for the rehearsals and performances as part of the showcase. More info.

Breakthrough

Breakthrough supports two deaf and/or disabled artists who are at the peak of their careers, and facing barriers preventing them breaking into the mainstream, with the goal of creating something small – and high quality.

Artists will receive a £6000 commission to produce a sample of professional quality work. This could be anything from a 5 minute scene from a play, a song, a showreel, a lighting portfolio or a short video – we want to nurture creativity, and encourage exceptionalism. Artists will also receive mentoring, support, and development sessions. More info.

Incubate

Incubate is a 12-month accelerator programme for four people building deaf and disabled led organisations within the wider arts sector. These can either be early-stage organisations, or organisations you are currently building from your previous solo practice.

Incubate will take members through 12 funded peer discussions on everything from financial management to social media. It is a peer-facilitated programme: while CRIPtic manages the sessions, there are no ‘experts’ – we’re all learning from each other. This is our second year running the programme, building on the successes we achieved in the first year.

There is space on the programme for one attendee per organisation. We will pay each organisation £50 per session prepared for and attended – but organisations will also learn a lot from these sessions. More info.
