About this role

This employment role will run for a one year contract, which we aim to continue beyond a year funding dependent. It is part time (12 hours a week).

The main task of this role will involve coordinating and facilitating three of our community arts projects based in Leeds:

  • Creative wellbeing for asylum seekers and refugees
  • Generation Squad (a creative drama and arts group for people of all ages)
  • Creative Carers (for unpaid carers to explore creative activities to boost wellbeing).
  • Some coordination and creative sessions as part of Leeds 2023 in summer.

To get an idea of our past projects with these groups, please visit our website. We usually have between 6 – 12 attendees per group.

Facilitation

These community arts projects will involve working with local people in the Leeds community, supporting them to access the arts, and trying different creative activities and fun games. The successful candidate will plan and deliver the creative sessions, tailoring the activities to suit the group’s preferences and their feedback, and planning the overall shape of the groups’ activities with support from the line manager.

Coordination

The coordination will largely involve marketing of the groups (e.g. attending other local groups to spread the word, newsletter/social media posts or running a taster session), gathering impact such as photos and feedback, and finding props and costumes.

This is a great role for someone who enjoys coordinating all aspects of a project, enjoys facilitating small groups and is passionate about empowering others to engage in the arts and build their wellbeing and confidence.

Role Tasks

  • Prepping and facilitating the drama and creative wellbeing sessions for the three main groups.
  • Supporting with the creation and co-ordination of the summer community performances in Leeds centre and Seacroft.
  • Marketing to and recruiting new group members (and volunteers as needed)
  • Coordinating the practical running of the groups, including booking taxis, liaising with venues, booking interpreters and communicating with our partner organisations.
  • Communicating regularly with the line manager and updating on progress
  • Purchasing small resources as needed for both projects and managing a small budget
  • Completing ongoing monitoring and evaluation of both projects with assistance from the line manager
  • Sharing positive updates on the project on social media and our website
  • Applying for some small grants to continue / expand the projects (if wanted by groups) with support from the line managerMore info and to apply
